What type of antenna does the CTM require?

CTM-500:

The CTM-500 requires external antennas for its cellular, GPS (GNSS), and Wi-Fi functionalities. It is essential to select antennas based on the specific application and operational environment. The cellular and GPS (GNSS) antenna ports are equipped with SMA bulkhead connectors, while the Wi-Fi antenna ports utilize reverse polarity RP-SMA connectors.

CTM-ONE:

The CTM-ONE offers the flexibility of internal antennas for its cellular, Wi-Fi, and GPS (GNSS) capabilities. When mounted with an unobstructed view of the sky, only a single connection point to the vehicle, typically through the OBDII/J1939 port, is required. For installations in vehicles where the CTM-ONE may be obstructed from having a clear view of the sky, we recommend using external antennas to ensure optimal performance.

What power options do the CTM device support?

The CTM can be powered through various methods to suit different installation scenarios:

• AC/DC Wall Adapter: You can power the CTM using a standard AC/DC wall adapter.

• DC Power Supply: When connecting to a DC power source, such as a vehicle's electrical system, a wiring harness can be used to supply power to the CTM.

• Vehicle Diagnostic Link Connector: The CTM can also be powered via the Power Pin from the vehicle's diagnostics link connector (DLC). This connector supports either OBDII or J1939 cabling standards.

In addition to the above options, the CTM-500 model can also be powered via a compatible Power over Ethernet (PoE) solution, specifically supporting 802.3at standards.

How do I factory reset a CTM device?

Can I use multiple SIM cards in my CTM device?

The CTM device is equipped with a dual SIM port, allowing you to insert and use two different SIM cards simultaneously. You have the flexibility to swap SIM cards at any time as needed.

Cypress Solutions offers assistance in selecting the best SIM cards for your CTM-ONE. Alternatively, you can use your own SIM cards with the device.

Does the CTM support dual SIM failover?

Both the CTM-ONE and CTM-500 wireless gateways feature dual SIM support. This allows for the installation of two active SIM cards from different carriers. The dual SIM capability enables failover functionality, meaning that if one SIM card fails to provide the required connectivity, the modem will automatically switch to the alternate SIM card.

I cannot access my CTM device. The error shows that the connection is not secure on the browser.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Download and install Firefox from 

https://www.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/new/2 . Once installed, type "about:config" in the address bar.

2. Set "security.tls.version.enable-deprecated" to true.

3. Restart browser. Access your IP and then check advanced > accept risk and continue.

How do I configure the CTM device via command line?

We can follow the directory in the command line and make changes. For example, the network watchdog can be enabled by navigating to the JSON path level-1, followed by level-2, and then to the parameter followed by a value.

To know the name of the parameter, we simply print the current config by using get instead of set. This will provide a list of the parameters to change in the directory or the sub-directory. Similarly, other values like the period check, number of tries, IP address, and delay with no connection value can be set like following:

"cmd set network.netwd.interval 'your value here'". 

"cmd set network.netwd.maxnoconnect 'your value here'".

"cmd set network.netwd.ping_count 'your value here'".

"cmd set network.netwd.ping_target1 'your value here'"

Once complete, we can save and apply the configuration by "cmd save" and "cmd apply".

Full Example:

Why am I unable to re-use my old password?

For security reasons, the modem does not permit the reuse of previous passwords on the newer firmware. However, we have implemented a workaround solution. By using the command "cmd password reset" you can easily change your password to the original shipping password and erase the password history. To initiate this process, simply SSH to the modem and execute the command. A prompt will appear, confirming reset to the production password.
