The CTM-ONE can be powered directly from the vehicle's CAN Bus (OBDII/J1939). Simply connect the 8-pin terminal to the CAN Bus port on the CTM-ONE, and then connect the other end to the vehicle's diagnostic port.

supports the option of internal antennas for cellular, Wi-Fi and GPS (GNSS). If the CTM-ONE is mounted with a clear view of the sky, a single connection point to the vehicle is all that is needed between the device and the OBDII or J1939 port of the vehicle. For other mounting scenarios where the CTM-ONE may be obstructed from a clear view of the sky, Cypress Solutions recommends:

  • Use external antennas if device is installed in vehicles (please refer to/wiki/spaces/CTMONE/pages/2397241347)

  • Power from vehicle diagnostic link connector (DLC) (OBDII/J1939) - no other cabling required

  • For vehicles where DLC is not supported/desired, the device can be connected with a DC power cable

The most effective installation method we recommend is to connect the CTM-ONE to power via the vehicle’s OBDII or J1939, place the CTM-ONE on the dashboard, under the seat, on the window, or any other suitable position, and attach an external antenna to a window.

Please refer to the CTM-ONE installation overview here.

Info

The illustrations below demonstrates the use of an OBDII cable with a light-duty pickup truck. In contrast, larger vehicles such as garbage trucks, paving trucks, and street sweepers utilize J1939 cabling.

CAN2.0B Bus

The CAN interface is primarily utilized to connect to vehicle subsystems that support CAN communications. This includes small and light-duty vehicles manufactured in 2008 and later (ISO 15765-4), as well as heavy-duty vehicles that are compatible with J1939 protocol.

To interface with a vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU), an accessory OBDII or J1939 cable is necessary. The CTM-ONE can be powered directly from the CAN port, eliminating the need for additional cabling if the vehicle supports OBDII or J1939 communications. The CTM-ONE supports both Medium and Highboth medium and high-speed CAN interfaces, as well as Single Wire CAN.Image Removed.
