The CTM-ONE supports two 2FF(standard) style SIM cards. You can install either one or two SIM cards.
If possible try and use SIM cards that are a single piece. Many SIM cards today are “tri-cut” to support the various SIM card proportions. Care must be taken when using tri-cut SIM cards as the cut away SIM parts can become dislodged and may impact electrical connectivity between the SIM card and SIM holder.
If a SIM card gets stuck in the SIM holder DO NOT force the removal of the SIM card as this can damage the SIM holder. Please contact Cypress Solutions Support for assistance.
In some cases if the modem fails to detect a SIM card this may be due to the manufacturing tolerances of the SIM card. Adding a thin piece of scotch tape to the backside of the SIM to slightly increase the thickness of the SIM can help with the SIM making electrical contact with the SIM holder contacts. Cypress can supply SIM tape for this purpose if required.
For single SIM card installation, it is recommended to use the UPPER slot of the dual-SIM holder. The UPPER slot, referred to as SIM1 slot, is located furthest away from the printed circuit board. The LOWER slot is referred to as SIM2 slot.
In most cases, the device will come with pre-configured, installed SIM(s). If so, SIM card installation is not required.
Accessing the SIM card slots requires removing the battery/back cover. To do this, remove the 4 top cover #4-40 socket head cap screws using a 3/32” Allen key driver (supplied).
The SIM slots are positioned next to the battery. (if installed)
Be cautious not to dislodge the battery during SIM removal or installation.
When reinstalling the battery cover, ensure that the gasket is in place. Tighten the screws in a criss-cross pattern until snug to achieve an optimal weather-tight seal. Do not over tighten; the recommended torque value is 4-5 in-lb.
For certain applications or configurations, the internal battery may not be installed.
